This summer
ReadysetDC, an arts and artistic culture blog, held a contest for graphic designers to rebrand D.C. The idea was to move the District away from the "I heart D.C." shirt and create an iconic design that locals and tourists would both wear. Not to mention, the "I heart D.C." shirts rip off a design created for New York and don't illustrate anything specific about Washington.
Contest winner Alex Slater merged the famed heart with the design of the D.C. flag and created something innovative and representative of the city. Check it out:

A win well-deserved. For more information about the contest and the winning design, read an interview with Alex Slater

Milton Glaser's I heart NY has been replicated so many times that whenever I see someone else use it I always think way to be original! Don't get me wrong, I heart Glaser's design, but I think this new DC design is great. The use of the DC flag in the type is great combo. Brovo!
